Okay, so maybe it's my brain wandering again and fantasizing about a tropical vacation that drove me to do this.. but I am going to probably run out of time this hiatus (break from shooting) to actually take another vacation. Either way, I will be doing a much needed trip between now and March. I'm thinking sand, tropical fish, clear blue/green water and sun. Somewhere I can have a hut and a massage and a drink and maybe even a bit of seclusion. Or forget all of that and let's just say anywhere beautiful and exotic and relaxing.
Not sure what part of the world I'm thinking of here... I just have a make-believe place in my head and wish I had the "I dream of Genie" syndrome to get there really fast.

So.
Any ideas? Links to places or pictures? Where have you been or what have you heard of that sounds spiritual, dreamlike and relaxing? Secret spots, even?

Let's get some posts going on here. This should be fun. I'm gonna see what I can find too:)

Yeah. I wanted to go to Greece after that movie too!

that first picture you posted on this blog looks like Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. Summer is DEFINATELY not the time to go there. One of the times I went to Vietnam during summer, it was really hot and VERY humid. I mean... in December at night, its 98degrees! Its a really pretty place. We stayed there overnight on a boat. But it was a bit scary. And it became all dirty the next day because of the rain.

I have really been wanting to go to Hawaii again lately (I'm hoping for Dec). I really liked Maui and Kawaii islands. Kawaii is so lush and green.

I really liked Nice (S. France) and Monaco. The beaches there are gorgeous! Nice has that famous really pretty beach but when I went, it seemed a little crowded. But of course, there's probably some private beach somewhere.
Hope that helps. Sorry I don't have pictures at the moment.

I love Bermuda, out of the many tropical places I have been to it is the best! It has one of the most beautiful beaches (pink sand!) The native people are very kind. The atmosphere is perfect for getting away and completely relaxing. There is something about it that makes it stand out from other Islands, which is hard to describe, you have to see for yourself. I highly recommend:)

You should definitely visit Palawan, Philippines the whole region itself is very beautiful. I visited the region a few years back and was fortunate enough to go from one island to another ..One place that we went to( I don't remember the name) I remember the guide telling us that they preserved/protected that area, it was also in that place I saw the largest number of Monitor lizards in my entire life.. The Palawan also has this beautiful underwater cave wherein you can take a boat and explore the cave... Lots of things to do in that place, and a lot of places to visit...I don't have pictures for the underwater cave but here's an image link that I found for the place

another place that I think you should visit and that I don't think a lot of people know about is this place called "Tinago Falls" it means Hidden Falls because the falls is literally hidden, to get to the falls there is a good hike... This place is also found in the Philippines but in a different region. Although this falls is in my dad's hometown I've only been there once and which was 3 years ago. I don't have a good picture for the place but here's a link to another picture I found for that place http://www.mindanao.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/the-tinago-falls-of-iligan-city-resize.jpg

I know this is wayyyyy late, but I think South Water Caye, Belize is awesome enough to warrant a late entry (maybe next time?). This wee little island off the coast of Belize is drop dead gorgeous, and at least the area I stayed in was eco-conscious as well. The bungalows were beautiful, there were kayaks to take out on the mouth-wateringly gorgeous sea, a sand volley-ball court, snorkeling (day and night, and may I say the night snorkeling is to die for! cowfish, manta-rays, and other really cool animals as far as the eye can see), ridiculously good, fresh, healthy food, and enough sand, palm trees, and chaise lounges to make me want to feed my return ticket back to the states to a fish. Additionally, because the place I stayed at was eco-friendly, our side of the island was completely silent. No ugly, noisy generators, no irritating buzz infringing on your peace and relaxation. You have to take a boat taxi from the mainland, but even then you're passing by gorgeous mangrove "islands" full of colorful birds.
The mainland is also nothing to shake a stick at! The zoo (only one in the country, as of my last visit) has amazing animals and a wonderful staff (my group got a private night-time tour, and even got to play with/hold their new baby jaguar! the work they do to rehabilitate and protect animals is amazing, but I'm super-rambling at this point). The Mayan ruins are beautiful and will give you a nice work-out climbing them. Nature reserves often have lodgings, which are amazing if sometimes a little touristy, but the best places to go are hidden-away bungalow "resorts" owned by locals - it's nearly like having the entire place to yourself, minus some awesome people who cook for you and lead you on hikes to all the fabulous waterfalls and swimming holes. You can get nestled up right against nature, howler monkeys, giant winged grass-hoppers and all, if you so choose. If not, mosquito nets work fabulously (note: nets not needed on the island I mentioned above).
The country is so small one can easily see nearly all of it by car, and nearby Guatemala is very pretty as well. Everyone in the country speaks English, so you don't have to worry about conjugating your verbs properly or whether you just asked a man for a live goat instead of directions to the beach. Need some visual convincing? Just google "south water caye belize". I woke up every day to the pictures on page one of the search. The bungalow on page one very closely resembles the kind I stayed in. It was awesome, I HIGHLY recommend it if you seek tropical R&R in your next vacation.
